Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus and the impact that it has had upon our society, we are now experiencing a critical shortage of blood supply which will result in yet another health crisis. Therefore, in the interest of the greater public benefit, the City of Hickory Hills will continue with our scheduled quarterly blood drive on April 19, 2020 at the Hickory Hills Community Center located at 7800 W. 89th Place. We have undertaken a thorough evaluation of safety measures with the blood donation company and are comfortable that a blood drive can be held in a safe manner for all involved with the following safeguards.
Because of the social distancing requirement, a limited number of donors will be allowed into the blood drive location at a time. Appointments are STRONGLY encouraged in an effort to avoid long wait times and congestion. The telephone number to schedule an appointment is 877-25-VITAL. You should convey your interest in donating at the Hickory Hills location (7800 W. 89th Place, the City of Hickory Hills Community Center) when scheduling your appointment. You may also schedule an appointment at the Vitalant Donation Center located at 9517 S. Cicero Ave, Oak Lawn by calling 708-346-9928. Please use group code C112 when you make an appointment at the Donation Center. The Blood Drive Staff will also be taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of all donors.
Please keep in mind the following:
1) Only people who are healthy are encouraged to donate.
2) Donors must be feeling well and free of respiratory illness symptoms.
3) People who meet certain travel restrictions or, people who meet at risk criteria for coronavirus infection will NOT be allowed to donate blood.
